Wine cellars

A total of 10 wineries have signed the “quality welcome charter,” committing to provide informative AOC tasting sessions in traditional, specially equipped sites and offer individual bottle sales in addition to other services.

What is the label “Vignobles & Découvertes”?

The Vignobles & Découvertes label (2009) is awarded, for a duration of 3 years, by Atout France to tourist and wine-growing destinations that offer a complementary range of tourism products (accommodation, restaurants, visits to wineries and tasting sessions, museums, events etc.), to help visitors organize their stay and access approved services.

All of the “Caves Touristiques” wineries are also “ Vignobles et Découvertes” certified establishments.

What is the “Caves Touristiques” label ?

“Caves Touristiques” is a network of 350 wine estates, committed to providing a “high quality service and welcome” in their wineries – an initiative led by InterLoire together with tourist bodies and vineyards.

10 commitments for winegrowers:

  1. To facilitate access to the wine estate and reception facility
  2. To respect the scheduled opening hours for weekday and weekend visits
  3. To have effective means of communicating to help access information about the estate
  4. To provide clean, equipped, safe reception facilities
  5. To offer informative wine-tasting sessions, led by a qualified individual
  6. To adhere to a Code of Good Practice, highlighting rules on alcohol consumption (0.5g)
  7. To display information about prices and services, and provide documentation about the vineyard and publications produced by the network: “Sur la route des vins de Loire” (On the Loire Valley wine route) map and the “Routes des vins & villages de l’Anjou” (Wine routes and villages of the Anjou region) map
  8.  To offer services tailored to customers’ needs
  9. To function as an integral part of the network
  10. To comply with evaluation and quality control procedures and inform InterLoire in the event of any changes to information about your business

The winegrowers of the Vendômois Cooperative

Founded in 1929, this wine cooperative represents thirty winegrowers with 165 hectares of vineyards, thus representing almost 50 % of Vendomois vineyards. Jean Chaillou, winegrower is also the guide for the tourists. And often these two passions are linked : a visit is an opportunity to defend the particularities of Pineau d’Aunis grape variety and finish with a tasting of different AOC from Loir Valley.

Groups of 10 to 50 people welcomed (advance booking required). By appointment, guided tour with history, presentation of the AOC label, wine making and vinification techniques followed by a wine tasting session (€4.60/person).

Open Tuesday to Saturday 9.00 -12.00 and 14.00-19.00 (except Tuesday, 18.00). From 1st May to 31 August, open on Sundays and bank holidays 10.00 -12 .00 and 15.00-18.00. Open day from May, 29 to June, 1.

Domaine Brazilier

Jean and Benoît Brazilier farm 25 hectares of vineyards, applying an integrated management approach at the heart of the Coteaux du Vendômois appellation. Benoît Brazilier succeeded to his father who himself succeeded to his father … we can go back seven generations like that. The actual president of AOC Coteaux du Vendômois federation is a committed defender of its land and likes to remind that this AOC is a very old designation of which Ronsard already talked about in its poems. It is in his troglodytic cellar in tuffeau stone typical of Loir Valley that Benoit welcomes his visitors to reveal (pratically) all the secrets of his wines.

Open Monday to Saturday 10.00 -12.00 and 14.30 -19.00. Closed on Mondays from 1st October to April 30th. Free wine tasting session for individuals. Groups of 10 to 60 people welcome: guided tour of the winery with explanation of vinification, followed by guided wine tasting session, €5 per person. Meal in a troglodyte wine cellar (prices on request)
