How to get to the Loir Valley

Situated between Le Mans, Angers and Tours, the Vallée du Loir is an easily accessible destination, whether you’re travelling by train, plane, bus or car. Thanks to its central location and regular connections, getting to La Flèche, Le Lude, Montval-sur-Loir or La Chartre-sur-le-Loir is quick and easy.

Coming to the Loir Valley by train

In the Loir Valley, the main rail gateway to the region is Château-du-Loir station, located at Montval-sur-Loir. It is served by the TER Pays de la Loire on the Tours – Le Mans – Caen route.

Approximate journey times :

Le Mans ↔ Château-du-Loir: 30 min
Tours ↔ Château-du-Loir: 30 min

From Paris, the Loir Valley is served by the TGV train to Le Mans. There are TER bus connections from Le Mans to La Flèche via route 26 Aleop (Le Mans – La Flèche – Saumur).

Coming by bus

The area is well served by regional and departmental ALEOP lines, with bus services from Le Mans.

Coming to the Loir Valley by plane

Just 45 minutes from the Vallée du Loir, Tours-Val de Loire airport welcomes a large number of scheduled flights from several national and European destinations.

You can find your flight on the Tours airport website.

Once you arrive, you can travel from the airport to La Flèche, Le Lude, Montval-sur-Loir or La Chartre-sur-le-Loir by TER train (Tours → Château-du-Loir), taxi or VTC. You can also hire a car from the airport.
