Created in 2014 from the merger of 8 tourist information points and the Loir Valley Development Agency, the Loir Valley Tourist Office covers 2 regions (Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val-de-Loire) and 3 départements (Sarthe, Maine-et-Loire and Indre-et-Loire).

The Vallée du Loir Tourist Office is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including the management of visitor centres, providing tourist information and networking tourism stakeholders. There are currently 4 reception offices: 2 open all year round in La Flèche and La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, and 2 open from 1 April to 30 September in Le Lude and Montval-sur-Loir.

The Tourist Office team is also involved in developing tourism in the area, assisting with the collection and recovery of the inter-municipal tourist tax, and promoting and communicating tourism in the area.

Since 2024, the Vallée du Loir Tourist Office has been committed to a CSR approach. The first areas of work concern the structure’s digital sobriety and the creation of a supplier charter to encourage the creation of local products.

Reception desks

The team in charge of reception at the Tourist Office’s 4 offices is made up of 4 holiday advisors. All year round, they facilitate access totourist information and guide visitors. Their in-depth knowledge of the region enables them to meet the needs and expectations of tourists.

A wide range of services are available:

  • Rental of muscle bikes and electric bikes in La Flèche and La Chartre-su-le-Loir
  • Ticket sales (bus, TER and TGV) at La Flèche
  • Reception of the cabinet of curiosities in Montval-sur-Loir
  • Off-site reception with the Tourist Office’s three-wheeled vehicle

Each visitor centre is positioned in line with the Tourist Office’s overall strategy, and has its own shop showcasing local products and expertise. Branded products(postcards, magnets, posters, kits, etc.) complete the “Boutique” offer.

Structuring the tourism offer

The team in charge of tourism development in the Vallée du Loir designs and runs regional development operations. It develops and leads partnerships and professional networks. In particular, it works to structure the cycling, wine and nature tourism sectors.

The “Tourist Office Development” team:

  • Supports public and private tourism project developers
  • Assists campsite managers with their positioning and strategies
  • Helping professionals to improve accessibility
  • Assists local authorities with their walking and cycling offers
  • Participates in cycling route committees such as the Vallée du Loir à vélo and the Vélobuissonnière.
  • Follows the “Vignobles et Découverte” and “Accueil vélo” labels

The Promtion communication department

Finally, each year the Tourist Office draws up a “Marketing” action plan to raise the profile of the Vallée du Loir by promoting its tourist attractions. The Tourist Office promotes and communicates the destination’s brand image of “a well-kept secret” and the values of “welcome, discretion and boldness”. The aim is to boost the region’s tourist economy.

The “Promotion/communication” team

  • Participates in specialist trade fairs in France and abroad
  • Develops the social media strategy
  • Works with the French and foreign press and organises press trips.
