Small pleasures abound in the Vallée du Loir and more particularly in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir.

Between castles and old stones, hillsides and gourmet products, the atmosphere is festive and visitors can hunt for bargains as they wander through the narrow streets. Second-hand goods, fabrics, multicoloured fabrics, furniture… there really is something for everyone.

Here the bargain hunter is king

In La Chartre-sur-le-Loir and the surrounding area, you’ll find a host of antique and second-hand shops, art studios and more. Each object is unique.

Lovers of “old” furniture will find what they’re looking for atArmel Labbé. In the heart of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, in this house founded in 1925, Armel offers a host of objects that have been restored in his workshops: dressing tables, pedestal tables, armchairs, bergères, etc.

A host of objects made in the Loir Valley

A stone’s throw away, you’ll also find shops that showcase vintage industrial furniture and design objects, such as Kustom Design, and curiosities, such as Grégoire Courtin’ s. This object collector knows how to stage his finds, in windows lit in his own way. This collector of objects knows how to stage his finds, in windows lit in his own way: busts and portraits in plaster, shells, fossils, boxes and bits of string under a globe.

In a completely different ambience, the Nocogo gallery completes La Chartre’s offering. Laurent Sutter has several thousand volumes on display here. The gallery showcases second-hand books as well as rare or unreleased works. Some collectors even leave their wish lists, which Laurent endeavours to satisfy.

Not just the charter...

Leaving La Chartre, we head for Le Lude, where we find almost identical shops.

Danielle, a lover of beautiful things, has set up her decorating boutique ” A comme bonheur ” in an old house near the Château du Lude. She selects brands renowned for their chic, timeless spirit, in small series. Each room in the house is a little universe, where everything is for sale: lingerie, accessories, decorations, candles and gifts.

We can’t recommend ” La petite brocanteuse du Lude ” enough for treasure seekers. Renowned for its dressing tables, chests of drawers, bookcases and bedside tables, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for in this shop.
