Description

Bocé covers an area of 1,600 hectares and has a population of 609: the Bocéens.
Bocé was first mentioned in 1036, under the name Rotbertum de Bociacco. The village grew up around the church of Saint-Martin de Vertou, which had been entrusted to the monks of Marmoutiers. The parish had two important seigneuries: that of the Château de Parpacé to the west and that of the Château de l'Auberdière to the east, on the edge of the Chandelais forest.
