Description

This is the only building in Sarthe by the famous architect Wogenscky of the Le Corbusier studio, who designed the Cité Radieuse in Marseille.
In the housing estate behind Marçon primary school stands the only Sarthe building by the famous Le Corbusier. It was in the 1950s that Le Corbusier, who designed the Cité Radieuse in Marseille, was approached about the future canteen project in Marçon. Le Corbusier named the study "Marca" (Marçon-cantine), in which Wogensky took part. The plans were drawn up in 1957. The two architects shared the creation of the furniture: Le Corbusier designed the coat racks and the kitchen, while Wogensky designed the tables. Minister Claudius Petit was finally able to inaugurate the refectory in February 1962, but the canteen had been open to schoolchildren since 1960.
