Coteau et prairies des Caforts

  • Marsh - wetland / salt marshes

Description

A concentrate of nature, in the heart of the Loir Valley!
The Caforts Regional Nature Reserve is an unusual place, home to a troglodytic house and a former underground tufa stone quarry with 910 metres of galleries. This is where around fifteen species of bat, protected in France, spend their winters, sheltered from the cold. Nature is also present outside the galleries, where a limestone hillside and wet meadow are home to a rich assortment of butterflies! The site is open to the public in spring and summer, with events and tours. Don't hesitate to visit the Conservatoire's website to find out about the next opening dates: www.cenpaysdelaloire.fr !
