Description
Exhibition. SIDE EFFECTS - Pharmakôn
In ancient thought, Pharmakôn was both poison and remedy. An ambiguous substance, capable of wounding as well as healing. Neither entirely beneficial nor entirely harmful, pharmakôn acts in a space of tension and transformation.
The paintings in this exhibition explore this uncertain zone. Colour sometimes becomes a balm, sometimes a burn. The forms oscillate between appearance and disappearance, as if the image carried within it a dual power: to disturb the gaze and at the same time to soothe it.
Somewhere between myth and matter, these works question what art leaves in us. Images do not console, they work within us. Painting acts like a Pharmakôn, an active substance with side effects.
