Description

The Chandelais forest is the most remarkable in Anjou. Here you'll be following in the footsteps of the good King René!
The forests of Chandelais, Monnaie and Pontménard are the largest state-owned forests in Anjou. Situated between Le Loir and La Loire, the Chandelais massif is the most remarkable in Anjou, covering more than 1,034 hectares and consisting mainly of oak and beech trees. It was the hunting ground of the good King René. This state-owned forest boasts a highly diverse environment, remarkable forest wildlife and a wide variety of mushrooms. It has been farmed for centuries and is managed by the Office Nationale des Forêts. It's a great place to take a walk, criss-crossed by footpaths. And there are several picnic areas for you to use when you stop off.
