Description

Come and discover the gardens of Château du Paty, a listed property.
English-style garden. Several magnificent trees and moats. The moat (watered and listed): created on a feudal motte in the middle of the 11th century. The moat was created on a feudal motte in the middle of the 11th century, using spring water from the hill to the north of Le Paty, and above all an ingenious system for diverting the local stream, the Chef de Ville, 2 km to the east of the main buildings. A reach was thus created. It is regulated by flowing parallel to and about a hundred metres to the north of and above the main stream. The overflow then flows westwards and continues to supply water to the underlying meadows. Plane tree on the bridge over the forest: 7 m in circumference at 1.10 m and 40 m high (measured by triangulation). It was probably planted around 250 years ago, having been exported from America as a fashion statement at the time. The château first belonged to Elie de Bourdeilles, confessor to Louis XI, and his family, then to the great-grandfather of the current owner.
