Description

Luché-Pringé has a unique history, bordered by a hillside and the river Loir. From the Romanesque porch of Notre Dame de Pringé to the Plantagenet choir of Saint-Martin and the tufa quarries, the town will tell you all about its past.
The softness of the limestone and the shimmering waters of the Loir make Luché-Pringé a very pleasant place to live. The commune originally comprised two separate villages, which were brought together in 1810. The first was built close to the river, around a central square and its church, while the second, three kilometres away, was built around its church but mainly along the hillside, where a few vines still grow. The clay and limestone composition of the soil made it possible to extract tufa stone, and by the 19th century, a dozen quarries were supplying the surrounding area with building stone. Standing on the banks of the long-turbulent Loir, the Mervé mill, built in the 15th century, is one of the finest mills in the region and the only one with fortifications. The châteaux of Gallerande, Venevelles and La Grifferie are all romantic and architectural stops along the village's signposted footpaths. Discover Luché-Pringé using the Guidigo app.
