"Suor Angelica" This tragic work reveals the implacable discipline of a 17thᵉ century convent and the self-righteous hypocrisy of the society that sealed Angelica's fate. "Gianni Schicchi A greedy family gathers at the bedside of their dying patriarch - only to discover that he has bequeathed his entire fortune to the local monastery. Furious and desperate, the parents resign themselves to calling on the cunning peasant Gianni Schicchi, the only person who can get them out of trouble. Schicchi agrees... but he has his own plan. Puccini's most biting comedy unfolds in a whirlwind of intrigue, intractable parents and irresistible music, proving that in Florence, cunning can triumph over greed.
