Description
Railway roundhouse dating from 1891 and its swing bridge
Unique in the West of France, this structure and its components are a rare testimony to railway activity in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The site comprises a 2,500 m² building and a 24 m swing bridge on a 10,000 m² site.
19 machines and wagons are stored on the inner and outer tracks.
Numerous objects and equipment are on display. In 2018, the site was chosen by the BERN mission to be promoted as one of France's 18 emblematic sites.
A major restoration operation is underway. By the end of 2021, work to completely repair all the roofs will have been completed.
The RFVL association owns the site and the volunteers are very committed to restoring and running it.
