The first edition of the *Sequenze* festival is a co-production of La Pelegrina, Ensemble Offrandes and Les Moulins de Paillard.
It is supported by the Ministère de la Culture-DRAC Pays de la Loire and the Département de la Sarthe.
"The link between music and dance is a natural one in the Baroque repertoire: in choreographic forms such as the chaconne, but also in Italian movements - allegro, largo, vivace... - in the rhythmic virtuosity of a toccata, the polyphony of a fugue or even in a piece of spiritual inspiration such as *L'Annonciation*.
The name *Sequenze* comes from all the mathematical and compositional influences included in our 2026 season at Paillard, as well as the works of Luciano Berio. It's a logical choice for this series of concerts and premieres in which we play with the established order, with pieces that are taken out of their usual contexts and moved around in time and space.
The festival opens with *La Folia Ostinata*. This first evening of dance and music takes us on a journey from Iberian Folia to Baroque Europe - Italian virtuosity, German depth, French elegance - to the avant-garde of the Sarthe stage.
*Sequenze* is a project run by three cultural organisations in Sarthe, offering a range of activities aimed at the general public, local residents, schoolchildren and emerging and established artists. The strings of the violin are the common thread: they weave a programme where baroque music and contemporary dance meet, revealing the richness of history, artistic disciplines, transmission and exchange".
