Description
Performance of ‘What would we have done in his place?’ in Baugé
By the L'intemporelle theatre company
Noëlla Rouget is a little-known member of the Resistance, yet one of a kind. She was just 20 years old when she saw Angers fall to the war and come under German occupation. For over a year, she endured the hell of a concentration camp, formed a bond with Geneviève de Gaulle – the General’s niece, who was imprisoned alongside her – and continued to fight. Yet, despite everything she endured, Noëlla refused to become like the criminals who had crushed her. A wisdom that our own time and place sorely needs… But what would we have done in her place?
