Description
Visit to the theatre at the Aubigné-Racan archaeological site
Every year, archaeologists welcome you to the Cherré archaeological site to help you discover its remains, which have been at the heart of a new research programme since 2022. In 2026, it's all about the games: the Roman theatre takes centre stage! The study of the remains of this characteristic theatre of Antiquity, one of the best preserved in western France, has enabled us to reconstruct its architecture and bring it back to life. Excavations have also revealed that this theatre was built on the flanks of older funerary monuments, sealing the graves of individuals belonging to the Gallic elite.
