Between Normandy and the Châteaux of the Loire, La Vélobuissonnière invites you to follow a 250km itinerary of small, quiet roads and greenways. Linking the Véloscénie in the north to the Loire à Vélo in the south, the Vélobuissonnière route offers the chance to discover a diverse and remarkable architectural and landscape heritage. From Alençon, renowned for its lace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the Loire Valley, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can explore the picturesque towns and villages of the Alpes Mancelles, such as Saint-Cénéri-le-Gérei, Saint-Léonard-des-Bois and Fresnay-sur-Sarthe. In Le Mans, whose 3rd-century Roman walls are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you'll be amazed by the architectural wealth of its historic heart, the Plantagenet City. After winding your way along the Sarthe Valley, you'll head for the Loir Valley. You'll stop off in the bike-friendly town of La Flèche and its famous zoo, before continuing on to Baugé-en-Anjou, with its château, a former hunting lodge of King René, and the unusual old Apothicary's shop. Wandering through the Loire Valley, dotted with villages with "twisted" bell towers, you'll reach Saumur and its famous vineyards, marked by its castle overlooking the royal river.
